Introducing- Grace & Ivy

Newsletter_10Mar_Article_Image_2

We really need to be careful of the products we purchase and their impact on the environment. This is why we are so thrilled to share one of our newest suppliers with you, Grace & Ivy. In early 2009, Grace & Ivy founder Ivette Newport began a quest. As a new mother, she desired a healthy, organic lifestyle for her family. She started investigating the food they were consuming and the products they were using on a daily basis. She was shocked at her findings. Beauty products were the first to go once she realized how many petro-chemicals, parabens and other toxins they were laden with. Her goal was to begin crafting these bath, beauty and skin care products for her family, using organic, local ingredients. Nothing more deliciously decadent than Brown Sugar Scrub

Mindful Supplier Saturday

mindful-saturdays

This Saturday was the first official day of Saturday Market this year and all the local supporters were out in full force. We had lots of work to do and thankfully, Pangaea Organics was our featured supplier for our “Mindful Supplier Saturday” because I really needed the caffeine.  Pangaea had the coffee brewing, the sun was out, people were smiling and the streets were buzzing.

I was so excited yesterday to see all the new boxes full of local jewelry, apparel and household goods from Trillium Artisans that we brought into the store.  Trillium Artisans is an innovative, green, nonprofit community economic development program that empowers artisans and actively connects them to markets.  I can’t wait to introduce our customers to the new items in the store. Everything is truly amazing and unique and of course, HAND MADE!

Today was a great day for Portland and thank you to all of you locals for your continued support.
Be sure to come check out our “Mindful Supplier Saturdays” where we feature a local company, artist or designer for the day.

The Story

One day Milo and Katie met and hit it off.  They decided they should make friends together and create things together. Milo, an eager-to-learn student, is enthralled by crazy art world things. Katie, a shopgirl extraordinaire, loves to see the beautiful in simple objects. They are such busy bees, if they didn’t create together, they’d probably never see each other!

They decided, one day, to host a Craft Party at their humble Sellwood apartment, and friends attended enthusiastically. The night was filled with music, story telling, and everyone was creating fun crafty goodies! A few watercolor paintings, a handful of collages, and a plethora of googly eyes and popsicle sticks later, a tradition was born!

Katie and Milo find that entertaining for Craft Night has brought them closer together, and will continue to make new friends and create new memories by hosting the inspiring event. Craft Night at Seven Planet will be a perfect place to unwind, share with friends, and build a community that Seven Planet strives to form with all its visitors.

Come Join in the Fun!

It is this sense of sharing and human connection that Katie and Milo want to bring into Craft Night. We welcome you to join us at Seven Planet every 3rd Wednesday of every month from 6-9pm. This event is free to attend so tell a friend!

Grace & Ivy

Grace & Ivy is dedicated to creating paraben-free, cruelty-free, herbal beauty products that promote health, well being and an awareness of the natural world.

In early 2009 Ivette Newport began a quest. It began with many months of research, study and countless experiments to perfect her organic skin care formulas. The praise and support she received from her family and friends propelled her to the next stage of sharing and eventually selling these products.
Ivette continues to expand her knowledge and has a deep passion for this newly discovered endeavor.

Loopt Works

LOOPTWORKS is an urban/outdoor apparel and accessories line made from 100% UPCYCLED materials. Everything we make is from pre-consumer excess – in other words, materials that get leftover at the factory. Instead of using the world’s limited resources to create new materials, LOOPTWORKS uses high quality, never before used excess materials that already exist. Since we do not know how much material we will find, each product is an individually numbered limited-edition item.
