Dryer Lint Firestarter
Friday, May 22nd, 2009Considering Memorial Day is nigh, I thought I’d throw out a camping tip for today’s post: years ago I was reading a book titled The ABC’s of Backpacking – this book provided me loads of helpful tips all surrounding (and taking into account) Accessibility, Balance and Compaction – aka the ABC’s of backpacking. One tip in particular that I found a bit odd yet interesting, was their idea of taking old dryer lint, cramming it into an old used film canister… and then, when starting your fire out in the woods, you just open your little can up, pull a pinch of lint out, place it in your kindling, light a match, and boom, you have fire!
Below is a picture of my new firestarting kit:
eco drycleaner
Friday, May 22nd, 2009It is shown that we can live just as effectively in a sustainable environment as we can in a less mindful sustainable environment, and that sustainable is better for all of us. The dry cleaning industry has a long history of not being eco friendly. The original founders of eco drycleaner recognized sustainable dry cleaning as an opportunity to make a difference in both consumer’s and employee’s lives with a result that provides profits that sustain the effort to make a difference.
Pacific Cornetta
Monday, May 18th, 2009Ching Liu built his vision of a vertically integrated manufacturing and marketing company and out of this Pacific Cornetta was born. Initially the company launched a line of insulated beverage ware, Liquid Solution, which still exists today. Ching and his family Alex, Kitty and Kwan continue to own and operate the family business, always striving for perfection and innovation. That’s why a major focus for the Liu family has been the environmentally friendly aspect of their business. They are continually searching for materials that are recyclable or renewable for use in their products as well as ways to make their practices more eco friendly. As PCI continues to grow so does it’s commitment to the environment and sustainable practices.
