Voting (DRAFT)

Picture

Introduction

Voting is how voters decide things.

Ever since the first cave families sat around a campfire there have been voters and votes.

Essentially a #group of similarly situated people --- because of geography, philosophy or shared interests --- decides things by "voting."   The alternative of course (and what generally happens when voting fails) is to decide things by force --- whoever has the biggest club (or in today's world --- biggest military or weapon of mass destruction) decides things.
Picture
Primary issues with voting (which have been debated since the beginning of time and are still debated today) are:
  • Who actually gets to vote ... and for what?
    • Do the kids get to vote?
    • How about the dinosaur?
    • What about the cooks?
  • Are all votes equal?   Or does a vote from a generally agreed wise person ... or person with the biggest gun club or nuclear weapon (or most vicious wife) carry a bit more weight?
  • How shall the votes be cast and counted --- so the tally may  be trusted by the voters?
    • With voice (and a raised bare arm to boot)
    • Paper ballot
    • The most modern way possible (a Voting Machine... or in today's world... electronically with a phone and twitter account...)

These questions have been debated for a long time.  And there seems to presently be almost as many answers to these questions as there are "voting jurisdictions" --- many of which overlap with other voting jurisdictions.  For example in this day and age it is possible for a Native American --- in her own self-governing Nation --- to vote for tribal matters as well as County State and National matters which may conflict with tribal matters.

Notably on our "shared planet"  --- with millions of "non voting" species who for thousands of years have enjoyed rivers with "water clean enough to drink" --- the ones responsible for trashing the rivers so completely that the water is now "undrinkable" are the humans, a majority of whom "vote."    This in and of itself in a pretty good indicator that the present system of voting which has been bastardized so badly it looks more like ruthless political capitalism (with Monsanto leading the charge) is unsustainable

National Voting (Continental Voting)

A few hundred years ago --- with interest towards achieving eventual "World Peace" (or at least peace on "America the Continent" --- see the Monroe Doctrine) --- these timeless issues of "voters and voting" were carefully studied and exhaustively debated.  The conclusions were as follows
Picture
Picture

  • A "pure voting democracy" is the equivalent of "Mob Rule" and not something parties should strive for.  Publias and Cicero had noted the same thing during Roman times.
Picture
Picture
  • Chiefs of Existing "Nations"  (i.e., all of the Native American Tribes) representing their respective Nation's voters (some of whom vote and some of whom let the Chief decide what to do without voting) should be respected (not eliminated).  Enforceable Treaties could eventually decide things like property lines, taxes and whether they voted just within their own Nation or in County State and other National elections as well.

  • Voting within a "stacked" Democratic Republic just might work, be sustainable and scale.  In such a system (which had never been tried before and thus was dubbed the "great experiment")
    • The voters vote for the "first level of representatives"  (the State and National Representatives) who are agreed by a majority of the voters to be the wisest -- or at least the best suited for politics they could vote for.
    • Next, the elected State Representatives choose the National Senators --- a super elite group for the "second level" of representation.   The Senators are acknowledged by the elected State Representatives to be most capable of  "cooling the passions of society" --- similar to how a tea cup saucer allows the tea (the "Voters") and cup (the Representatives) to cool --- so we don't end up with Mob Rule (or War).  IMPORTANT NOTE:  IN THE ORIGINAL CONSTITUTION WOMEN (AND ANYONE ELSE) ARE ALL ELIGIBLE TO BE CHOSEN AS SENATORS.  Article I, Section 3 of the Constitution sets ONLY three qualifications for senators: (1) they must be at least 30 years old, (2) they must have been citizens of the United States for at least the past nine years, and (3) they must be inhabitants of the states they seek to represent.  THERE IS NO RESTRICTION BASED ON GENDER (OR SHADE OF SKIN OR "NATIVE AMERICAN MAKEUP PERCENTAGE").  THERE IS NOT EVEN A RESTRICTION THAT ONE MUST BE A "NATURAL BORN CITIZEN" (LIKE THERE IS FOR THE PRESIDENT) ENABLING "STEM CELL PEOPLE" TO BE SENATORS.
    • Finally the President (who MUST BE A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN) is chosen by the electors who are chosen by the States “in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct “(U.S. Constitution, Article II, section 1).  This provision implicitly acknowledges there are different ways in which a State may deem best to cast its votes for President and indeed the way in which States determine this may change over time.

The above, in a nutshell, is how voting in America (the "Great Experiment") was originally designed.

The stacked notion of a Democratic Republic was/is truly brilliant.

As the first level of "voters" expands over time (from white males ... to all males ... to all people ... and beyond) the Republic stands strong (with wise Senators looking out for ALL of the voters best interests).  And if the "Great Experiment" was objectively determined to be a superior form of government it would naturally expand in geographic scope and "scale" virtually frictionlessly.

In theory everyone on the Continent of America --- or even the world--- could be a voter in this "decentralized" system form of self government.  Careful readers of the Constitution will note there is no geographic limitation on States.  Any "State" from anywhere  ---- even an Island (like Hawaii) ... or a sliver of beach in a far away land (like "Israel") may theoretically "opt in" to America with the approval of Congress and upon doing so be apportioned some Representatives and Taxes.

The Original Constitution is bold in its potential scope and brilliant in its execution.

Unfortunately --- just moments after the Original Constitution was enacted in its pure form a powerful group from New York was able to "hijack" the Constitution and tack on to it a "Bill of Rights" (effectively limiting individual freedoms) that would slowly, steadily and surely transform the elegantly simply Constitution protecting all into an Animal Farm system of government rewarding just a few.  This would destine the Government to be eventually overthrown at which time "the Next Generation" could start over with a "clean slate." --- which is what parties did at the turn of last Century (#Y2kForkIt).

The Transition from "Old America" (Unconstitutional and Broke) to New America (Constitutional and with a surplus banked with Square --- and later leveraged with BitCoin for $FUV) did not happen for everyone overnight.

Indeed for most of the "voting public" it took about 20 years (from Y2KForkit in 2000 to almost the end of 2020).  During these two decades mass confusion often ensued with parties being unclear on who the actual President was, what elections were even valid and when it was OK to have the Supreme Court choose the President rather than the electors.  Chaos indeed.

During these transition times it was not uncommon for "Military Grade" Law Enforcement (following direct orders) to "roundUp" those "expressing freedom of thought with speech" and to either toss them in the Unconstitutional "Nazi Like" Gulag at Guantanamo Bay or in some cases handcuff them in the parking lot of a grocery store and give them a good "roughing up" with a "red flag" warning to not "tweet or say anything more controversial."
