Taxes
"Shape Public Policy with Taxes"
Live simply so others can simply golf (more at www.kaniksu.weebly.com)
Editors Note: Many years ago our village (updates available at www.kaniksu.weebly.com) started over with Just the Original Constitution. Since then more have followed. A summary of what that means from a tax perspective for each of our mindful merchants, suppliers and consumers follow.

Taxes - Federal
There are "no limits" established for the States --- in number size location or even the amount of taxes the States may pay.
There is however an absolute limit on who the Federal Government may tax. The Constitution explicitly provides that the Federal government may tax the States. The precise language of the Constitution is here. |
When establishing the Constitution the Founders considered taxes carefully.
Nobody likes to pay taxes --- not even States. By mandating that "Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States" [which "opt in" to the United States] several goals are accomplished including the following
There are lots of good reasons for apportioning Taxes among the States. There are perhaps even more good reasons to NOT tax individuals, business, trusts, estates and virtually anything else (no matter where situated) except for the States. |
To put it bluntly the 16th Amendment is bass-ackwards.
The change Constitutional Tax from "apportioned among the several States" to "without apportionment among the several States" is one of primary reasons Old America (Unconstitutional and broke) collapsed --- and simply "started over with a clean slate" like Thomas Jefferson suggested. |
Taxes - Local
Local Governments (States, Counties, Cities, Villages, HOA's, Etc.) may tax themselves (with a proper vote) however they see fit. Examples of taxes that may enacted include Property Taxes, Sales Taxes, Gross Receipt Taxes, Value Added Taxes, Permits and Fees.
A few of these which are in effect our peaceful seven planet village and neighboring villages are described below.

Property Taxes
Effective July 2015 (when our village started over with a "clean slate") property taxes are calculated as follows
|
Sales Taxes Local sales taxes may be:
For example in a resort village town (like Schweitzer which is part of the "City" of Sandpoint and "Nation State" of Spokane) there may be THREE sales taxes stacked (1% Village Resort Tax, 1% “City State” Tax, 5% “Nation State” Tax. All of these taxes (three levels of taxation being paid to three different entities for a total tax of 7% on purchases) can be configured and auto-paid with Square. |
Permits (Voting)
VILLAGE #1 (Old America) - All “lot” owners may vote upon payment of "dues" (i.e., purchase of a "voting permit").
VILLAGE #2 - All breathing beings may vote (except fish for the reason that fish breathe water and that doesn’t count as breathing according to those in favor of prohibited village sign with a dead fish on top) upon payment of "dues" (i.e., purchase of a "voting permit"). VILLAGE #3 (New America): - All breathing beings (including those represented with Voting Proxy, Trust, “eState” or other Ways and Means, whether dead or alive) are entitled to vote upon purchase of a Vote. One or more votes may be purchased. |
In all three villages proceeds from voting permits are applied towards Snowplows Roads and Bridges --- and ensuring the rivers and lakes have "water clean enough to drink.". This of course is a good thing for the reason that each year whoever is elected President is required to take a swig of water from the local river or lake before taking office.
